It's been a while, but this is a much needed update.
First off, Merry Christmas!!! It's that time of the year where people get all crazy in the malls and people drink the eggnog latte's from starbucks, and I prefer the later of the two, they are such great drinks.
But now for the much needed update from what is going on at the Buffalo Lounge, the first semester is over and done, and it was a challenging but rewarding semester, filled with new experiences and great new relationships. Many concerts and movie nights, youth group and coffee houses. It has been a great time. now to look into the future and what it holds for the BL.
We are continuing to have movie nights every 3rd saturday of the month, D4 youth group every monday at 7, and we are going to be promoting many more concerts and many more events.
It is our goal at YFC and the BL to link up with the city and church of Regina to bring more youth into our facility and have a great time in a positive and loving environment.
We can't do this alone, we need help now, more than ever to effectively reach this generation.

WORTH
You ARE worth something!
You have made an IMPACT on a situation!
Even if you don't feel it, even if you feel alone and abandoned. If you have felt like nobody cares. YOU have made a change in someones life.
You ARE special!
YOU...YES YOU!!! You are a part of a big scheme of things about how this world works. you are meant to be extra-ordinary. YOU are of value to someone and something.
I feel that in this world, in our short time in these shells of flesh, we have 2 choices. the first being that we can do something, the second is we can do nothing. I have seen that there are a lot of people that pick the second, maybe because it might be easier.
I read a quote the other day that went like this...
"security is mostly a superstition, it does not exist in nature nor do the children of men as a whole experience it, avoiding danger is not safer in the long run than outright exposure. LIFE IS EITHER A DARING ADVENTURE OR NOTHING." - Helen Keller
I challenge whoever reads this to do this life of adventure.

Sweet Stuff!
Here is a pretty great Update with the happenings of YFC Regina.
D4 has blown up! (not literally!) but it is sweet to see the amount of kids coming out on wednesday nights! keep on inviting friends! If you are in High School come check out our wednesday night D4 at the buffalo Lounge from 7-9. or Jr. High on Fridays from 7-9 as well!
We need volunteers for our Lambs Boxing Club! even though Aaron is a rad guy, it takes more than one person to go out every night and hang out with 20-40 kids! WE NEED VOLUNTEERS!!!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I have been going non stop with work lately, it's great that i am busy with stuff, but i feel like i am missing out on a lot right now.
I miss sleep, I miss having a day off, and i miss just being able to read a book. I don't feel like there are enough hours in a day to get anything done on my large list of to do's to actually make a dent. I am going to make a resolution to take a sabbath! sounds great to me. If God took one when he created the universe, why can't I? because really, what good is a burnt out missionary? Pray.

I have a story that will make you believe in God.
I am reading an older story, that was one of the top selling books. By Yann Martel called "The Life of Pi" This story intrigues me. So much to the point that that I want to relate to Yann's story. I'm not going to give the low down of this story but more so my thoughts on what I have taken from it so far. This story changes lives. Not just the readers lives, but the authors as well. in the authors notes, Yann explains that he had the biggest book flop ever and wanted to go on a journey to find a story. a life changing story. and he found that, His life changing story. this story changed his life when he ran into a man that told him "I have a story that will make you believe in God."
He has choices. He could have chose to stay or go. simple. choosing to stay and listen to this man tell him this story, became the new direction and purpose of his life, forever.
I have been really leery about choosing my paths, chalk it up to trust issues, or just the fact that I am a (sort of) play it safe kind of guy. I'm not the best in areas such as discernment and decision making, so given the opportunity, and if i were in Martel's shoes, i probably would have laughed and left. not knowing the wiser about a life changing opportunity.
I'm excited on how this book may or may not have an effect on my life and outcome, but it's going to be a good read, in my opinion, if it can change the life of the person writing it. It just goes to show how meaningful and truthful a story can be when an author is really into it!
If you have read the life of pi, let me know your thoughts.

busiest time of life
I just finished one of the busiest summers of my life, and I am still trying to catch up on my work. seems to be impossible when you have days like this where it is +32 outside and i have my iced tea and blogging post outside! glorious!
something that popped into my head that i felt i should blog on is hymns. I love hymns, so much soul and meaning, unlike the new church music, hymns meant something to the person and the audience. I have a hard time singing in church, and Sarah will agree to that, the songs that we sing every service.
what other type of music has a solid book with piano notes that flow seamlessly with the words in the book. I love it! the best songs in my opinion are hymns.
I have some of my closest friends in church leadership, and as church rock band pastors, and they all do amazing jobs at what they do, but sometimes it just kind of blows my mind how the majority of songs sung in church, the mass produced, generic, soulless songs, just don't have heart. or how we just pick the songs that flow with the sermons, sometimes we just need a good hymn in our lives!!
Music is such an important part of my life, and it is something that i love to relate too, something that lives in me. as natural as my heart beat. I find a lot of my time spent is either listening to music, or humming a tune or air drumming in my car. I have my iTunes rocking right now! I hope that we as people, friends, neighbors, sinners, saints, whomever, never lose that spark where we love what we do and who we do it with. music is the heartbeat of life.
